FN Week 6: Appendices Code Documentation and Final Thoughts

Image
Investigatory Project: Documenting the Blocks           For March 30, I was assigned to put all the blocks that are used in our app on MIT in our appendices paper for 3I's. And it was a lot! I did it for almost 3 hours since the code blocks were very long, and I had to screenshot some of them so that the picture is not blurry and can be seen and evaluated by our teacher to check if our code is correct. I kept on pushing our leader to give this specific task to me and not give it to my other classmate because she is literally sick. I didn't want her to stress herself out more, so I volunteered to take on this task even though it was time-consuming. I'm happy that I was able to help and contribute to our project in this way. Final Thoughts and Reflection      As I write this final blog entry, I honestly feel a bit emotional looking back at everything we have been through. From the start to this last blog, I really enjoyed documenting my assig...

FN Week 5: Finals Requirements and Exhibit Results

Image
Empowerment Technology We had a meeting last March 26, and Ma'am just instructed us to make individual GDrives for our finals requirements to be submitted on or before April 10. We need to organize everything properly so that it will be easier for Ma'am to check our outputs.  Investigatory Project Updates Since there are still some changes to be made on the appendices, our leader told us that she will be giving us the final papers by April 3. We are all waiting for this so we can properly organize our individual outputs. I know our leaders are really working hard on making the revisions, and I am really grateful for our leaders. We have already received our grades for our exhibit and final defense. We were really shocked by the grade we received, but what matters most is that everything is already done, and we have completed all the tasks we needed to complete. Our section was chosen to go and exhibit again on April 28 because we are the top 8 out of 17 booths. It feels grea...

No Missed Deadline: No Sleep, But Worth It

Image
Introduction Hi! I'm Chasidy Waje, a Grade 12 STEM student — and I just want to start by saying: I made it. We made it. Our project is called No Missed Deadline: A Low-Data Mobile Application with In-App and SMS-Based Notification System. It's basically a mobile app that helps students never miss their tasks and deadlines, even with a poor internet connection, through in-app and SMS notifications. I had multiple roles in this project. I was the researcher, the designer, the presenter, and the video editor. There were honestly moments where I felt like I wasn't doing enough. Like everyone else was carrying more weight, and I was just... there, trying to keep up. But now, looking back at everything, seeing the documents I wrote, the screens I designed, the video I edited, the poster I made, the slides I built, the defense I stood up for, I realize that I was never just there, because I was everywhere. I also never stopped supporting my other members who were working hard for...

FN Week 4: Preparing for the Exhibit at New Era University

Image
Finalizing Requirements and Preparing for the Exhibit We were now mostly preparing for our exhibit at New Era University. So what we did this week was finalize our paper and other requirements. We made ambagan for our bookbinding and printing of tarpaulins for our advertisement poster and scientific poster. I made our ad poster at the last minute since I had a problem with our wifi connection, so I only had over 45 minutes to make it, and asked a favor from my good friend, Wileulene, to continue and finalize our poster for printing. I'm really thankful that she helped me out even though it was super rushed. Booth Decoration and Exhibit Day Plans March 17, the decorating of the booth started, and Ma'am Annie made chismis to us that only 2 of our classmates were at school, starting to fix our booth. We were shocked because other booths are bongga. But it's okay, more of our classmates will be going to our booth tomorrow, March 18, and I will be going on March 19, the last...

FN Week 3: Defense Day and Infomercial Success

Image
The Defense We were astonished to see how many panelists there were. As far as I remember, overall, there were 7 panelists. Most of them asked questions, and other panelists liked our app so much that they didn't bother to question our project. The questions were mostly answered by our leaders since they know our app very well, which is why we are so proud of them. Everyone felt tense at first, but as soon as the questioning ended, we all felt relieved afterwards. Because I'm super  proud of them, I sent a voice message containing a heartfelt message for our leader. I said that she should take a rest already and sleep. But then I remembered that we also have several revisions to be made. The feedback that we received the most was about the UI—they told us to make it more vibrant. But overall, they were all satisfied with our project, and the whole class did well. The Infomercial I was so nervous because I was still editing and exporting it when the meeting had already start...

FN Week 2: Rushed Deadlines and Infomercial Preparations

Image
Empowerment Technology Update We didn't have any classes for EmpTech this week since Ma'am attended a DepEd orientation and meeting regarding the National Achievement Test. Chapter 3 is already in progress and will be completed within this week. Update on Our Investigatory Project Since our defense is coming up and it will be on Wednesday already, we were honestly rushed with the requirements to be submitted by that day, together with the collab teachers for that subject. Most of us—editors, coders, and especially the leaders—are staying up the whole night just to get the app and paper finished. We are very stressed and nervous because of the sudden defense date and deadline that was given to us, but we chose to just continue working and believe that all of our hard work will pay off in the future (hopefully). I was in charge of making the infomercial, but after seeing our script, I decided to just take the lead role instead. I think it will be easier for me to plan and edi...

FN Week 1: Practical Exam Defense and Progress Report Presentation

Image
Empowerment Technology: Practical Exam Defense This week, our practical exam for Empowerment Technology was a defense of our ongoing investigatory project, but in Ma'am's given format of paper and presentation. We had to modify our content, following Ma'am's instructions, so that our presentation would be successful. Since I was also sick during this time, our leader and my other partner for PPT making let me rest instead and just checked the presentation for final changes. I'm really grateful that they understood my situation and still included me by asking for my feedback. Even though I couldn't help as much as I wanted to, I made sure to review everything carefully so our defense would go well. 3I's Subject: Progress Report Presentation For our progress report in our 3I's subject, Zhyrene and I were able to turn it into a presentation so that we could formally present it to Sir and get his feedback. It was nice to put everything we've done so f...
